Wounded Knee is an Official Selection of the 2009 Sundance Film Festival
The work of Robert Warrior and Paul Chaat Smith (Like a Hurricane: The Indian Movement from Alcatraz to Wounded Knee) was recognized as they served as Show Advisors to Wounded Knee, an episode of the PBS series We Shall Remain. The film examines the broad political and economic forces that led to the emergence of the American Indian Movement in the late 1960s and the events that triggered the group’s takeover of Wounded Knee on Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota and its 71-day standoff with federal troops. The series will premiere in April, 2009.
